"Art Nouveau" 1890-1914

Art Nouveau arose at the end of the XIX th century. It particularly focusses on realistic (floral, representational or animal) motives.

The influence of Art Nouveau meets in all types of jewellery such as rings, brooches, necklaces, pendants but also cufflinks, hat pins, combs, belt buckles, tiaras and diadems.

The main Art Nouveau jewellers were Louis Comfort TIFFANY, René LALIQUE, Philippe WOLFERS, Karl FABERGE and Georges FOUQUET.

They created jewels inspired by naturalist and mythological themes and recurring motives such as "femmes fatales", magnificient butterflies, dragonflies and exotic flowers.
